Many foreigner or foreign tourists in Korea would love to visit and enjoy many exciting cultural events or festivals in many local cities where they cannot reach easily out of major cities, so we hope the Cheonan World Dance Festival in next year is more upgraded and provide many new programs for the expat community in Korea.
Cheonan is a city located in the northeast corner of Chung-Nam
province and about 1hour form Seoul by car.
Cheonan
has been called “the core city of the nation” as it is the gateway to the area
around the national capital region as well as the main transportation hub for
the national road, railways, and expressways which these routes are open in all
directions, including north to Seoul, west to Asan, south to Gwangju and
Daejeon, and east to Daegu and Busan.
different cultural fervor. There were dancers from 24 different countries including Turkey, Russia, France, Mexico, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia and other.
The main
program of the festival was dance contests of Korean amateur dance teams from
all over the place, international Folk Dance Shows, Street parade with
international teams, and comic dance battle.
There
was sub-stage for other dance performance and competition, the ‘Funny dance
battle’. It was a kind of on-stage funny dance battle, as the title describes,
that pre-registered or anyone among guest can join as an entry
improvisatorially to compete the most funniest and comedy-looking dancers.
The
park was big enough that had different area of performances and had various outdoor
booths and tends that representing many kinds of local foods like grape and
other stuffs to sell.
I think the best part of festival was the street parade at evening. The main down town street was blocked
to make a huge open stage and spectator area where the parade ends their long march
of 2.5 km. but I didn’t’ stay till the end of parade because I had to get on last bus
to come home.
Anyway
the festival of year 2013 was wonderful and exciting in general and it has been
doing a great role to bridge and connect many different cultures with
dance. But it still has many things to
be fixed or reorganized if this annual event is to be evaluated and recognized
as a top international dance festival as it claim its title ‘World Dance
Festival’ not a local one. For example there
was not enough information provided in multiple languages for foreigners who
wants to travel to the city.

Summer in Korea (Mud Festival Boryeong Korea)
Of the numerous festivals in Korea, it is the Boryeong Mud Festival that probably attracts the largest number of Foreigner. During the festival period, tourists flock to the area to experience the beneficial properties of the Boryeong mud, and also to have lots of fun. Fully immersed in the both the mud and the festival’s great atmosphere, visitors enjoy mud wrestling, mud sliding and even swimming in the mud mega tub. Visitors feeling particularly energetic can try the marine mud-training course, whilst those looking for something more chilled can relax in the mud massage zone. In the evening, music and fireworks continue the party on the beach.

Some Park!! (Deok-Jin park)
Deokjin Park is a representative city park of Jeonju. Officially designated a city park in April 1978, the park is centered around a natural pond, which dates back to the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392). The park is such a landmark of the area that the lotus flowers blooming in the park’s large pond are considered one of the most impressive attractions of Jeonju. The park spans an area of 13,000㎡ with the pond covering about two thirds of the southern sector. An arch-shaped suspension bridge stretches across the middle of the pond, offering up-close views of the lotus blossoms.
Park designers created a traditional pavilion and a water iris garden in honor of the park’s historical background and added an artificial waterfall and wooden bridge for visual effect. The park also houses nine stone monuments including the Children’s Charter, engravings of Shin Seok-jeong and Kim Hae-gang’s poetry, and the statue of General Jeon Bong-jun.
The park is the site of the annual Dano Changpomul (Water Iris) Festival, a much-anticipated event held on the day of Dano (a Korean traditional holiday that falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month). During the celebration, women wash their hair in iris-infused water from the pond to wish for good health in the coming year.

Summer in Korea (SeonYu-do)
Seonyudo is one of the island on the west coast that lies in the
heart of the Gogunsan-Yeoldo archipelago and consists of some 20 islands in
Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do. Visitors to the island can also see Munyeodo, Jangjado
and Daejangdo nearby in one trip as there are bridges linking the four islands.
Seonyudo is one of my favourite place to visit in Korea that which name of island means, “an island so beautiful that god admires it”

Spring in Korea (Cherry blossoms)
Nothing signals the beginning of spring like the
blossoming of flowers.
There are many special spots offering beautiful views
of the Cherry blossoms around the Korea and so much that there is an annunal
festival held in different cities with Jinhae being one of the most popular
places to go. But Jinhae is too far from where I am so I went to Jeong-up to
take a picture of flower.
Everyone
should take the opportunity to revel in the beauty of cherry blossoms while they
last until early April.
Grab your cameras and follow the trail of the
blossoming flowers throughout the country.
